About the Berkshire Robotics Challenge

Modeled after the FIRST LEGO LEAGUE annual challenge, the Berkshire Robotics Challenge is an opportunity for children from third to eighth grade (ages 8-14) to develop their science and computer skills while designing and programming a robot to complete a challenge.  Students work in teams towards a competitive goal while learning problem-solving, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Each year FIRST LEGO LEAGUE releases a new challenge to teams based on a real-world theme.

The 2023 Challenge theme is Super Powered.  Teams will explore where energy comes from and how it is distributed, stored, and used - and then put their super-powered creativity to work to innovate for a better energy future.

The Challenge had three parts:

  • The Robot Game: build and program an autonomous LEGO robot
  • The Project: teams learn more about the science behind the Super Powered Challenge and design a solution to a real-world problem.
  • Core Values: these are part of what makes FIRST LEGO LEAGUE so special, because kids compete like crazy but respect their teamates, Coashes, and their competitiors - and they have FUN!
